VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Russia hopes the United States will fulfill its obligations, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said.
"When negotiations on the years [of the countries' G20 presidency] were in progress, the Americans assumed certain obligations," Rudenko told reporters on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, when commenting on media reports that Russia and China spoke out against holding G20 events in the U.S. in 2026.
"As part of this work [on the declaration of the recent G20 summit], they pledged to abide by all obligations that are imposed on the heads of the organization's chair countries. We shall see. The Americans very often assume obligations which they later fail to honor," he said.
