MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Russian forces have repelled eight Ukrainian attacks in the Donetsk sector and two in the southern Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Krasny Liman sectors each, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov has said.
"In the Donetsk sector, units from the southern group of forces backed by aircraft and artillery repelled eight attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 80th Air Assault Brigade, the 3rd Assault Brigade, the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade, and the 110th Mechanized Brigade near Kleshcheyevka, Andreyevka, Pervomaiskoye and Krasnogorovka in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
In that area, Ukrainian forces lost up to 140 troops, two infantry vehicles, four trucks and a Msta-B howitzer, he said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, the combined operations of units from the eastern group of forces supported by aircraft, artillery and heavy flamethrowers repelled two attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 38th and 36th Marine Brigades near Novomayorskoye in the DPR and Priyutnoye in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
There, the Ukrainian army lost up to 235 troops killed or wounded, two armored combat vehicles, three trucks, and an ECM station, he said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, units from the Russian contingent supported by aircraft, artillery and heavy flamethrowers repelled two attacks by assault units of the Ukrainian 82nd Air Assault Brigade near Verbovoye in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
In the Krasny Liman sector, "attack planes, army aviation, and artillery repelled two attacks by assault units of the 21st Mechanized Brigade and the 12th Azov Special Ops Brigade [banned in Russia] east of Yampolovka in the DPR and Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic [LPR]," he said.
In that area, the Ukrainian army lost up to 65 troops and two armored combat vehicles, Konashenkov said.
"Concentrations of troops and military hardware of the Ukrainian 47th Mechanized Brigade, the 48th Airmobile Brigade, and the 82nd Air Assault Brigade were hit near Rabotino in the Zaporozhye region," he said.
The Ukrainian army lost more than 205 troops, one tank, three armored combat vehicles and two trucks. Additionally, U.S.-made M777 and M119 howitzers, four D-30 howitzers, one D-20 howitzer, and a Msta-B howitzer were hit during the day, he said.
"In the Kupyansk sector, aircraft and artillery from the western group of forces hit Ukrainian troops and hardware near Novosyolovskoye in the LPR and Olshana and Kotlyarovka in the Kharkov region," Konashenkov said.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 85 troops, two armored personnel carriers, two trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, a M777 artillery system and a M109 Paladin howitzer made in the United States, he said.
Two ammo depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed in the DPR and the Kharkov region, Konashenkov said.
