Russia ready to send a N. Korean cosmonaut into space - Peskov (Part 2)

BLAGOVESHCHENSK. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to send a North Korean cosmonaut on a space mission and has told North Korean leader Kim Jong Un about it, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"We said that if the North Korean side wishes so, a North Korean cosmonaut could be trained and sent to outer space," Peskov said on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's Amur region hosted a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Putin said before the meeting that Kim had shown a keen interest in rocket hardware. "They are trying to develop the space industry, among others. We have good competences," Putin said.
