MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax) - The Kremlin does not understand the logic of imposed or lifted sanctions on Russian businessmen, the latter include both traiters and those who rightfully defend their rights in court, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"We do not understand the logic of either the sanctions themselves or the lifting of those sanctions. I do not think Europe itself can explain this logic. This is what we clearly understand," Peskov told reporters.
He was asked to comment on the European Union's decision not to extend sanctions on several Russian businessmen.
"As for the lifting of sanctions, we know that certain businessmen shift to anti-Russian positions and try [...] to have the sanctions against them lifted. These are traitors. There are also businessmen who systematically, methodically defend their interests in court. This is the right of any businessman, and we respect that," Peskov said.
"The main thing here is that the sanctions against all businessmen, the seizure of private property of Russian businessmen, and the encroachment on financial and other assets of our businesses are actions completely at odds with every law and international legislation in general," he said.
