Russian Central Military District procures T-80BMV, Tu-72B3M tanks, APCs, other hardware

YEKATERINBURG. Sept 15 (Interfax) - About 200 artillery systems and armored vehicles have been supplied to the Russian Central Military District, the district's press service said on Friday.

"Almost 200 tanks, armored personnel carriers, artillery and missile systems have been delivered to motorized infantry and artillery detachments of the Central Military District," the press service said.

Motorized infantry units procured T-80BMV and Tu-72B3M tanks, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, BMP-2 infantry vehicles, Gibka-S air defense missile systems, and 120mm mortars, while 152mm Msta-SM howitzers were supplied to artillery units, the press service said.

"Special operations units were reinforced with a batch of Kornet anti-tank missile systems," it said.

The Central Military District covers three federal districts and 29 constituent territories of Russia, as well as a number of facilities abroad, among them the 201st military base in Tajikistan, the joint military base in Kyrgyzstan, and units stationed in Kazakhstan. The district's headquarters are in Yekaterinburg.
