Belgium to send Ukraine first 10 repaired M113 armored personnel carriers - media

BRUSSELS. Sept 15 (Interfax) - Belgium is starting to fulfill its promise to supply Ukraine's army with decommissioned and repaired M113 armored personnel carriers, the RTBF television channel reported on Friday, citing a specialized website.

"The first 10 M113 armored personnel carriers, restored by the Belgian firm John Cockerill Defense, could be sent to Ukraine as a result of a Benelux-funded initiative which initially envisaged 40 armored personnel carriers," the report said.

The delivery of the armored personnel carriers, removed from service in the Belgian army more than a decade ago, was approved by the Belgian Council of Ministers on June 16. The model is a fully tracked armored personnel carrier, whose production began in the United States in the early 1960s.
