MOSCOW. Sept 15 (Interfax) - Political analyst Stanislav Belkovsky and journalist Ilya Shepelin have been added to the list of foreign agents, the Russian Justice Ministry said on its website on Friday.
"Belkovsky, [Yevgeny] Kochegin, [Kirill] Sedov, [Yury] Fyodorov and Shepelin were added to the register of foreign agents on September 15, 2023 in accordance with the Russian Justice Ministry directives," the website said.
Belkovsky, who has left Russia, "took part in the creation and dissemination among an unlimited circle of persons of foreign-agent messages and material, engaged in anti-government propaganda aimed at forming a negative image of Russia and discrediting its special military operation in Ukraine, spread misinformation about decisions made by Russian public-administration organs and their policies," the statement said.
Shepelin, who also now lives abroad, took part in the creation and dissemination of foreign-agent messages and material, "spread misinformation about decisions made by Russian public-administration organs and their policies, spoke out against the special military operation in Ukraine," the ministry said.
Kochegin is a physics professor who also left Russia, Sedov is a journalist, and Kochegin is a blogger who was based in Volgograd, but now also lives abroad.
