Azerbaijani Defense Ministry confirms agreement to suspend hostilities in Karabakh

BAKU. Sept 20 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has confirmed the agreement to suspend anti-terror measures in Karabakh from 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

"The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reports that, given the requests from representatives of the Armenian residents of Karabakh submitted via the Russian peacekeeping contingent, it has been agreed to suspend the local anti-terror measures from 1 p.m. on September 20, 2023," the ministry told Interfax.

The ministry said that the local anti-terror measures have been suspended on the following terms: detachments of the Armenian Armed Forces and illegal Armenian armed units operating in the Karabakh region will lay down their weapons, withdraw from their positions and posts, and fully disarm themselves.

In addition, units of the Armenian Armed Forces will leave Azerbaijani territory, the illegal Armenian armed units will be disbanded, and all weapons and heavy hardware will be surrendered, the ministry said.

These processes will be carried out in coordination with the Russian peacekeeping contingent, the ministry said.
