Air defense repels cruise missile strike on Russia's Crimea - republic head (Part 2)

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Russian air defense repelled a cruise missile strike on Crimea on Friday, Crimea head Sergei Aksyonov said.

"Air defense units have downed cruise missiles over the territory of the Republic of Crimea," Aksyonov said on Telegram.

Aksyonov did not say how many missiles were shot down.

Aksyonov's advisor Oleg Kryuchkov said earlier that one of the missiles was downed near Bakhchisarai in the center of the peninsula, causing a grass fire.

In turn, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev reported a missile strike on the Black Sea Fleet's staff in Sevastopol.
