MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax) - The primary goal is to help settle the situation and to avoid attempts by third parties without mediation potential to secure their presence in the Caucasus, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when commenting on a meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders planned in Granada on October 5.
"There are no specific plans for a trilateral meeting [of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan] just yet. As for the other peacekeeping efforts, of course, the main goal is to help settle the situation and, most importantly, to avoid, so to speak, the attempts of certain third parties to secure their presence in the Caucasus just for the sake of it, without any mediation potential. That would hardly be helpful," Peskov said at a press briefing on Monday, as he responded on questions about the possibility of a trilateral meeting was being considered and commented on the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev planned in Granada, Spain, on October 5.
"If anyone can help defuse the tensions and assist in integrating the Armenian population and Karabakh into the new reality that should be nothing but welcome. However, that would require the consent of all sides," Peskov said.
