Russian Security Council secretary sees no prospects for settling Ukraine crisis yet (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Sept 26 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has said he does not see any prospects for settling the Ukraine crisis yet.

"There are no prospects for such a settlement at this point. Ukraine will not be allowed to conclude a peace agreement and will continue to be used as a weapon against Russia," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Patrushev as saying at Russian-Egyptian security consultations in Cairo.

Patrushev supported the stance of Egypt and some other African countries on mediation in settling the Ukraine conflict and welcomed their decision not to supply weapons to Kiev.

"We welcome Cairo's refusal to supply weapons to the Kiev regime. We realize that the decision was made despite the serious pressure exerted by the Americans and the Europeans," he said.

Russia is counting on further support for its stance at the UN and other international platforms, Patrushev said.
