Moscow bans entry for several individuals involved in infringing freedom of speech, Russian journalists' rights in Moldova - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Moldovan Ambassador to Russia Lilian Darii was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday to be handed a note of resolute protest over "the continuing politically motivated crackdown on Russian-speaking mass media in Moldova," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The latest manifestation of such actions was "the decision to expel the chief of the Sputnik Moldova news agency Vitaly Denisov," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

"It was communicated to Lilian Darii that as an asymmetric measure, entry to the Russian Federation has been prohibited for a number of individuals directly involved in infringing freedom of speech and the rights of Russian journalists in Moldova, and also in inciting anti-Russian sentiment," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
