MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Russia has virtually completed the development of pre-announced new types of strategic weapons, including Sarmat and Burevestnik missiles, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"We have now finished work on the modern types of strategic weapons that I talked about and announced a few years ago. [We] carried out successful tests of the Burevestnik, a cruise missile with a global range [and] which has a nuclear [power] unit," Putin told the International Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday.
"We have effectively completed our work on the Sarmat, a super-heavy missile. The issue now is finalizing certain procedures bureaucratically [and] beginning its mass production and deployment. And we will do this very soon," he said.
