MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov discussed pressing bilateral issues by telephone on Tuesday in a follow-up to the Russian and Azerbaijani leaders' contacts on the sidelines of the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting held in Bishkek on October 12, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The ministers "praised the October 23 meeting in Tehran of the 3+3 advisory regional group at the foreign minister level. It was agreed to continue with the steady work of advancing this format," the statement said.
The pair reaffirmed the need for making more efforts towards normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the basis of the trilateral agreements reached at the summit level in 2020-2022, the ministry said.
On October 23, Tehran hosted a ministerial meeting of the 3+3 group (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Russia and Turkey). The meeting was held without Georgia, which refuses to attend 3+3 meetings.
