Russia has no concerns over China's growing nuclear capabilities - Peskov

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - China has a sovereign right to build up its nuclear capabilities, and this does not cause concerns for Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

"In this case, China that is facing very serious challenges, is taking steps it considers to be appropriate for its own security in the region. This is an absolute sovereign right of this country," Peskov told reporters, commenting on the information from the annual report of the U.S. Department of Defense stating that China has become a global leader in building up nuclear capabilities.

"No, we are not concerned about this. We have relations of advanced strategic partnership. We enjoy the most advanced level of political dialogue [and] economic interaction," Peskov said.
