Russian snipers neutralize mock militants in exercise in Tajikistan

YEKATERINBURG. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Snipers from reconnaissance units of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan have trained in the mountains, the Central Military District's press service said.

"According to the exercise scenario, an Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicle detected an illegal armed unit in a gorge during a daily patrol of the Lyaur highland range. A reconnaissance unit was tasked with stealthily deploying to the area where the mock enemy was concentrated, using the provided coordinates," the press service said.

The snipers walked 15 kilometers before they found the hidden positions. They reconnoitered the area using man-portable laser devices, and surrounded and neutralized the mock enemy. They fired synchronously at targets placed at various distances of up to 800 meters.
