YEREVAN. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has expressed hope that the Armenian-Turkish border will open soon for certain categories of people.
"I would like to express optimism that our agreements will be implemented soon, at least those on the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders, and that there will be good news," Mirzoyan said in parliament on Friday.
Mirzoyan met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Tehran on October 23 to discuss current items on the regional and bilateral agendas.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed normalizing bilateral relations and progress in fulfilling the agreement to open the Armenian-Turkish border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders by phone at the end of June.
Armenian State Revenue Committee head Rustam Badasyan told reporters in July that Yerevan was working to build and repair a checkpoint on the border with Turkey.
