MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - There are no prerequisites for starting dialogue on the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE Treaty) for now, although this dialogue is necessary and Russia is ready for it, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Journalists asked Peskov on Wednesday to comment on NATO's decision to suspend CFE Treaty obligations and wondered whether any prerequisites for starting related dialogue existed at the moment.
"There are no prerequisites at the moment, although there is no doubt the dialogue is necessary. It cannot exist in the form of one country's notations to another. We will not practice this format. Yet we believe that this dialogue is crucial and, of course, we are ready to start it," Peskov said.
He was asked whether NATO's decision might affect strategic security.
"The situation won't change de facto in any way," Peskov replied.
