MOSCOW. Nov 9 (Interfax) - Two thirds of Russians, or 66%, trust the local police, versus 35% in 2012, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) said in a statement on its website on Thursday.
People aged 18 to 24 trust the police most (85%), the pollster said.
Twenty five percent claim the opposite, including 30% in the group aged 25 to 34, VCIOM said. Nearly two thirds of Russians, or 61%, had no trust in the local police in 2012, it said.
Nine percent of current respondents are undecided, compared to 4% 11 years ago, the pollster said.
VCIOM polled 1,600 respondents aged 18 and over by phone on November 3, 2023.
