MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Russian forces have taken better positions near Artyomovsk in the Donetsk sector, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
"In the Donetsk sector, units from the southern group of forces backed by aircraft and artillery have taken better positions and frontlines in the Artyomovsk area in the Donetsk People's Republic. Three attacks were repelled and troops and hardware of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were hit near Chasov Yar, Kleshcheyevka and Georgiyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
"In that area, the enemy lost up to 135 troops and three pickup trucks," he said.
"In the Kupyansk sector, units from the western group of forces supported by aircraft and artillery repelled four attacks by assault groups of the 57th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Sinkovka in the Kharkov region. The enemy lost up to 30 troops and a D-20 howitzer," Konashenkov said.
In the Krasny Liman sector, army aviation and artillery from the central group of forces hit concentrations of enemy troops and hardware near Torskoye and Grigorovka in the Donetsk People's Republic. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 40 troops and two pickup trucks, he said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, units from the eastern group of forces supported by army aviation and artillery hit troops and hardware of the 58th Motorized Infantry Brigade and 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and 128th Territorial Defense Brigade near Novomikhailovka, Ugledar and Urozhainoye in the Donetsk People's Republic. The enemy lost up to 75 troops and two trucks," Konashenkov said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, units of the Russian contingent repelled an attack by the enemy's assault group near Novopokrovka in the Zaporozhye region. Aircraft and artillery hit troops and hardware of the 65th and 118th Mechanized Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Rabotino and Malaya Tokmachka in the Zaporozhye region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 65 troops and two U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carriers," he said.
"In the Kherson sector, the enemy lost up to 40 troops killed or wounded, five trucks, and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system as a result of strikes by artillery and aircraft," Konashenkov said.
