Migrants who arrive in Murmansk region will not be carried to Norwegian border - operational HQ

MURMANSK. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The foreigners who have arrived in Murmansk region to travel on to Finland will not be transported to the border with Norway, the region's operational headquarters told Interfax on Tuesday.

The only land checkpoint, in Borisoglebsky (Storskog in Norway), is situated in the region's Pechengsky District, it said.

Also, there are no plans to set up more checkpoints in the direction of the Norwegian border. There, the traditional Titovka checkpoint continues operating, the headquarters said.

When asked whether heating and temporary-accommodation centers will be opened for migrants in the Pechensky District, the headquarters said no.

Earlier on Tuesday, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo announced the closure of his country's last checkpoint with Russia from November 30 until December 13: Raja Jooseppi (Lotta in the Kolsky District of the Murmansk region).
