Russia intends to actively interact with Algeria - Putin

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Russia intends to intensify its interaction with Algeria, which will become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2024-2025, President Vladimir Putin said.

"In 2024-2025, Algeria will become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. We, of course, are intensifying coordination with Algerian partners on vital international and regional issues," Putin said at a ceremony of accepting foreign ambassadors' credentials.

Russia and Algeria "have strong and friendly relations" and the Algerian president's visit to Russia this year "has taken the fruitful cooperation between our countries to a qualitatively new level," he said

"Russian-Algerian trade-economic cooperation is progressing a good rates, trade has already exceeded $2 billion," Putin said.

Moscow "values the Algerian administration's balanced foreign policy," he said.
