Putin says he will run for president (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced plans to run for president in 2024, as he decorated servicemen with Hero of Russia awards.

Putin made the announcement after the ceremony, when he spoke with the servicemen and guests.

A guest asked Putin to run for reelection, and Putin agreed, an Interfax correspondent reported.

The Federation Council scheduled the next Russian presidential election at a meeting on Thursday. The Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC) decided that the election will last for three days, from March 15 through 17, 2024.
