Borrell: This is not the moment to weaken support to Ukraine

BRUSSELS. Dec 11 (Interfax) - EU member states should broaden assistance to Kiev, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said.

"This is not the moment to weaken our support to Ukraine. Just the contrary, this is the moment to increase it," Borrell said before a meeting of the EU foreign ministers.

Speaking of Ukraine, Borrell said that the foreign ministers would discuss "the proposal on the security commitments" and the results would be presented at the EU summit on December 14-15.

The foreign ministers meet against the backdrop of EU differences over the allotment of 20 billion euros as military assistance to Ukraine over the next four years. The EU has yet to approve the eighth tranche of 500 million euros of assistance to Kiev to be provided via the European Peace Facility.
