Russian Central Elections Commission accepts Putin's documents for registration as presidential candidate

MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has successfully filed documents required of a candidate in the next presidential election, a member of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) told Interfax on Monday.

"Yes, [the CEC] has accepted [the documents]. By law, we have five days to consider the matter of registering an activist voter group," Konstantin Mazurevsky said.

The package includes an application for the registration of an activist group containing the personal data of the candidate and all members, the minutes of the meeting, a list of authorized group members, the candidate's consent to run, and other documents.

Earlier, it was reported that Putin had arrived at the CEC to file documents as a 2024 presidential candidate.
