Another Il-76MD-90A military transport plane delivered to Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Another serial-issued Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A military transport plane has been delivered to the Russian Defense Ministry, Rostec's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) said.

"One more aircraft built as part of this year's program is going through the final stage of factory trials. We will timely meet the obligation to supply military transport planes to the Russian Defense Ministry," the UAC quoted Ilyushin (Il) Managing Director Daniil Brenerman as saying.

"Il's branch, Aviastar, continues to ramp up production and output. We are planning a further expansion of the series. We are also laying the production groundwork for next year," Brenerman said.

The Il-76MD-90A is a major upgrade of the Il-76MD. According to the UAC, the plane is made of domestic components.

"The upgraded plane has better main characteristics than the previous versions. For instance, it has a longer flight range, a higher payload, better piloting and airdrop precision, and better radio signal. The plane is designed to transport and airdrop military hardware, troops and cargo," the UAC said.
