MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax) - Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko said he had discussed the protests in Serbia with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and noted that the opposition was supported from abroad.
"We agreed to meet some time ago, so the meeting was not entirely connected to the events that happened yesterday and a few days ago, I mean the opposition protests," Botsan-Kharchenko said on the Rossiya-24 television channel (VGTRK), having met with Vucic on Monday.
"It so happened that the issue was one of those on top of the agenda," he said.
"He [Vucic] is confident and, given yesterday's violence, relies on law enforcement agencies that acted properly and in compliance with laws and regulations. Yesterday's situation demonstrated their efficiency," Botsan-Kharchenko said.
"The protests were planned, organized and based on the techniques, principles and patterns of Maidan-type revolutions," the opposition's actions "are encouraged and supported from abroad," and the Serbian president has "irrefutable" evidence of Western support for the protests, he said.
