MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Russia's Sputniks company, part of Sitronics Group, has built over 120 satellites in 2023 and plans to launch over a hundred of them next year, the company press service said on Tuesday.
"The company made and launched 20 satellites in 2023. Over a hundred satellites of various kinds were also serially manufactured to be launched in 2024," the press service said.
The company launched satellites of the Russian Sitro-AIS automatic identification system for ship tracking and the Zorky-2M satellite, the first experimental one of the group of remote sensing nanosatellites in 2023, it said.
"Environmental monitoring, ship tracking, monitoring of nature conservancy areas and land use with artificial intelligence are key areas that require current data today," the statement quoted Sitronics Group Board of Directors member Alexei Katkov as saying.
Sputniks is also developing and making civilian satellites for Russian and foreign clients in the areas of ship monitoring, aircraft tracking, and the Internet of Things, the press service said.
