YEKATERINBURG. Dec 27 (Interfax) - Over 30 upgraded T-72B3M tanks have been supplied to a guards tank regiment of the Russian Central Military District stationed in the South Urals, the district's press service said on Wednesday.
"Over 30 T-72B3M tanks have been supplied to a guards tank regiment of the Central Military District. The delivery has helped complete the arming of a regimental unit with new tanks," the press service said.
T-72B3M is a major upgrade of the T-72 main battle tank. It has an improved 125mm gun, a new Relikt dynamic defense system, a new 1,130 h/p engine, and an upgraded fire control and targeting system, it said.
The 90th Guards Vitebsk-Novgorod Tank Division of the Central Military District, twice decorated with the Order of the Red Banner, is stationed in the Chelyabinsk region. The division, formed on December 1, 2016, consists of three tank regiments, a motorized infantry regiment, a self-propelled artillery regiment, an air defense missile battalion, a reconnaissance battalion, an engineering battalion, and combat, logistics and technical support units.
