Baku notes some positive results of peace agreement talks with Yerevan

BAKU. Dec 28 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has positively assessed the progress of negotiations with Armenia on a bilateral peace agreement and the normalization of relations.

"Some positive results were achieved in the peace process with Armenia at the end of 2023. These were obtained through direct contacts between Baku and Yerevan. On the whole, our sentiment for 2024 is positive. For my part, I can say that Azerbaijan will take every necessary step in this area, with due account taken of our legitimate interests and international law," Bayramov said at a press conference on Thursday.

He said he had four meetings on the peace agreement with his Armenian colleague this year and one informal meeting in Tehran in October.

Bayramov expressed hope for in-person contacts with Armenia in 2024. "At the same time, we are working on the peace agreement. For instance, we have presented our package of proposals to the Armenian side," he said.
