MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - The Russian military has reported thwarting an attempted landing of Ukrainian sabotage groups on the Dnieper eastern bank.
"Gunfire and preemptive actions of Russian forces have thwarted an attempted landing of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' sabotage groups on the Dnieper isles and eastern bank in the Kherson sector," the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"Aircraft and artillery hit troops and hardware of the 35th, 36th and 38th Marine Brigades and the 124th and 126th Territorial Defense Brigades near Berislav, Tyaginka, Tokarevka, Nikolskoye, Zmiyevka and Chernobayevka in the Kherson region," the ministry said.
In that area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 390 troops, 25 trucks, 17 boats and 22 artillery systems, it said.
"Forty-three Ukrainian troops surrendered during the week, including 22 in the Kupyansk sector," the ministry said.
