Russia ramps up tactical aircraft production 30%

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - Enterprises of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) have ramped up tactical aircraft production 30%, UAC head Yury Slyusar said in a statement.

"We are increasing production of the fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 aircraft. The output of military transport planes has also increased. We are continuing to meet the targets of strategic aircraft programs. Production of tactical aircraft has been ramped up 30%," a statement on the Russian government website quoted Slyusar as saying.

The UAC fulfilled this year's state defense order on time, the statement said.

"For instance, UAC enterprises in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Ulyanovsk made new serial Su-57, Su-35S, Su-34, Su-30SM2 and Yakovlev Yak-130 tactical aircraft and Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft and delivered them to the Russian Defense Ministry under the state defense order in 2023," Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said.

Tupolev met its obligation to upgrade and reproduce Tu-160M strategic bombers and to repair Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, while the UAC branch, Sokol, upgraded MiG-31 interceptor-fighters, the statement said.

The smooth production and delivery of new planes particularly in demand by the Defense Ministry, the provision of serviceability, and the prompt restoration of airworthiness amid the special military operation are the tasks set for new year, it said.

"Further increase in the production of military transport planes is also planned, including preparations for the development of super-heavy-lift and light aircraft," the statement said.
