Lukashenko urges all Belarusians to do their part to prevent war

MINSK. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Belarusians as well as others are currently talking only about one thing - avoiding war, and citizens must keep the economy running, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.

"Someone once joked about it: those Belarusians are at it again, 'as long as there isn't a war'... Today, no one's laughing any more. Because if there's a war, that's it. All culture, production, and quality of speech will be out of the question," Lukashenko said during the For Spiritual Revival Award ceremony on Tuesday.

However, "there will be no war if we, each of us in their own place, do what we must, if we have our economy working," he said.

"Frankly, our foes and enemies are choosing a convenient moment to put us on our knees. We must not give them that chance. And we have everything [we need] for that. It all depends on us," Lukashenko said.
