CSTO facing multifaceted tasks associated with improving its military component - CSTO secretary general

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Imangali Tasmagambetov, secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), stated priorities of the CSTO Joint Staff for 2024 at a Friday meeting, CSTO Joint Staff press secretary Vladislav Shchegrikovich told reporters.

"Summing up the results of the event, Tasmagambetov said the achievement of the priorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the period of its chairmanship of the Organization in 2024, as well as the decisions made at the November 2023 session of the CSTO Collective Security Council envisages new multifaceted tasks associated with improving the CSTO military component. There is readiness and the necessary potential for their achievement," Shchegrikovich said.

Among the priorities for 2024, CSTO Joint Staff head Andrei Serdyukov, in particular, mentioned "the improvement of the legislation on the development of the CSTO military component, further work with the CSTO Secretariat and defense agencies for improving the crisis reaction system," Shchegrikovich said.

The CSTO comprises Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
