MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - The Russian Armed Forces repelled two attacks mounted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kupyansk and Krasny Liman sectors over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"In the Kupyansk sector, units of the western group of forces, using airstrikes and artillery fire, repelled an attack launched by an assault group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 60th Mechanized Brigade near Sinkovka in the Kharkov region. In addition, strikes were delivered on concentrations of Ukrainian troops and hardware near Petropavlovka and Berestovoye in the Kharkov region and Stelmakhovka in the Lugansk People's Republic," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army's losses over the past day included up to 20 troops, three armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, it said.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, units of the central group of forces, backed by the air force and artillery fire, fought back an attack by an assault group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 63rd Mechanized Brigade near Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic and delivered a strike on strongholds of the Ukrainian National Guard's 5th Brigade near the Serebryanskoye forest area," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this area stood at more than 160 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, and an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, it said.
"In the Donetsk sector, enemy troops and hardware were hit near Vesyoloye, Razdolovka, Kleshcheyevka, Andreyevka, and Kurdyumovka in the Donetsk People's Republic as a result of active operations by units of the southern group of forces, airstrikes and artillery fire," the ministry said.
"A missile and artillery weapon depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 46th Air Mobile Brigade was struck near Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic," it said.
The Ukrainian army lost more than 200 troops, a tank, three infantry fighting vehicles, an armored personnel carrier, 13 automobiles, and two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems in this area over the past day, the ministry said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, units of the eastern group of forces, backed by the air force and artillery fire, struck formations of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade and the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Novomikhailovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," it said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this area over the past day amounted to more than 140 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, four automobiles, and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, the ministry said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, units of the Russian group of forces, backed by artillery fire, delivered strikes on troops and hardware of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 65th Mechanized Brigade and the 3rd and 14th Brigades of Ukraine's National Guard near Verbovoye, Rabotino and Novopokrovka in the Zaporozhye region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this area over the past day included up to 20 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, and a D-30 howitzer, it said.
"In the Kherson sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 40 troops, eight automobiles and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system after being targeted by systematic strikes," the ministry said.
