Senior Azerbaijani, Turkish defense officials discuss military cooperation

BAKU. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov met with a Turkish delegation led by Deputy National Defense Minister Celal Sami Tufekci to discuss cooperation on military issues.

Azerbaijani-Turkish military cooperation, as well as bilateral contacts in other areas, have been developing consistently, Hasanov said. The two countries' strategic allied relations are based on their friendly and fraternal ties, he said.

"The significance of joint projects in military procurement was noted at the meeting, which was also attended by the heads of Turkish defense industry companies. The parties discussed steps to further expand military, military-technical and other [types of] cooperation, as well as regional security issues," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
