MOSCOW. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Any serious talk about prospects of resuming the strategic stability dialogue with the United States is impossible for now, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"It is impossible to talk about such prospects seriously, like adults, out of the context of the general state of affairs in the fields of international security and strategic stability," Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday in response to a question about prospects of the Russian-U.S. strategic stability dialogue.
"The dynamics in this area are extremely negative now, and this trend is exacerbating," Lavrov said. "First and foremost, this is related to the intensifying struggle around those, without exaggeration, historical processes that accompany the shift in the world order from unipolar to polycentric," he said.
Besides, "we do not see the slightest interest of either the United States or NATO in a fair settlement of the ongoing Ukrainian conflict, they are reluctant even to hear about our concerns and do not want to talk seriously about the elimination of fundamental contradictions. Instead, the West seeks to escalate the Ukrainian conflict, which creates additional strategic risks," Lavrov said.
