Peskov on Poland's decision to drop claim over Smolensk air crash: we hope the page will eventually be turned

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Moscow hopes that common sense will prevail in the case of the air crash near Smolensk, and Poland's decision to drop its related claim "will turn the page" in this affair.

"We have indeed seen such reports, but we'll need to study the official information. So, I would rather not give any formal comments," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in response to a question about whether one could say that the Polish decision to drop the claim puts an end to the matter.

Russia's stance is common knowledge, Peskov said. "The reasons for this tragic air crash are also well known. It's no secret that we have always been opposed to the politicization of that awful air crash, which took so many lives. Of course, we would like to turn this page, and hope this will happen eventually and that common sense will prevail after all," Peskov said.
