MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Russia increased production of main types of weapons manifold in 2023, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Friday.
"Thanks to the effective work of the Russian Defense Ministry and defense enterprises, we have managed to increase production of the main types of essential weapons and ammunition manifold," Shoigu said during Unified Military Goods Commissioning Day.
"Expansion and upgrade of manufacturing facilities and higher labor productivity also contributed to that," he said.
New workshops, production lines and high-tech sections have been commissioned at numerous enterprises, Shoigu said.
"The increasing production intensity required a substantial number of skilled specialists for the entire range of production facilities and manufactured weapons and military hardware, while round-the-clock production schedules were introduced in certain cases," he said.
"All of that has the most favorable effect on raising the prestige of worker professions," Shoigu said.
