Belarus plans to renew fighter jet fleet

MINSK. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Belarus plans to renew its fighter jet fleet "in the foreseeable future," Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense Deputy Commander, Chief of Aviation Leonid Davidovich said in an interview with the CTV state-run channel on Sunday.

"We are continuing to renew our fighter jet fleet. I think the renewal of our fighter jet fleet will be finalized in the foreseeable future, considering that MiG-29 planes, which have been serving us faithfully and loyally for decades, are close to the expiration of their service life," Davidovich said.

"Thus, we need new aircraft to fulfill fighter jet missions," he said.
