MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Russia has doubled production of air defense missiles, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"Colleagues, we have inspected practically every enterprise. We have spoken with chief engineers and designers. Plenty of new equipment has been supplied, which has allowed ramping up production. As for the air defense missiles we need, their production has been more than doubled. Hopefully, the program will be met in full this year," the Russian Defense Ministry quoted Shoigu as saying at a meeting on Tuesday after visiting defense plants in Yekaterinburg.
"We are also working together on an upgrade, which will add a lot to what we have today. Still, there are some crucial issues to be addressed. We should do so in a rather energetic manner. These are the issues of engines and the setting up of the production of launchers," he said.
