MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Russian forces have improved their frontlines in the Krasny Liman sector of the special military operation zone and have taken better positions in the Donetsk sector, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, units from the central group of forces improved their frontlines and repelled three attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 60th Mechanized Brigade near Yampolovka in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR] with the assistance of artillery," the ministry said.
"In the Donetsk sector, units from the southern group of forces took better positions and struck troops and hardware of the Ukrainian 22nd Mechanized Brigade and the 114th Territorial Defense Brigade near Kleshcheyevka and Krasnoye in the DPR," it said.
The enemy lost up to 270 troops, a tank, three armored combat vehicles, seven trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and an M119 howitzer in the Krasny Liman sector, the ministry said.
In the Donetsk sector, two attacks by assault groups of the 81st Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were repelled near Belogorovka in the Donetsk People's Republic, the ministry said. The enemy lost up to 290 troops, three armored combat vehicles, including one M113 armored personnel carrier, and 17 trucks, it said. Counterbattery measures hit an M777 artillery system, a Msta-B howitzer, a D-20 howitzer, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, a D-30 howitzer, and a Grad multiple rocket launcher. Four field ammo depots were destroyed, it said.
In the Kupyansk sector, units from the western group of forces repelled five attacks by assault groups of the 30th and 44th Mechanized Brigades and the 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Terny in the Donetsk People's Republic and Sinkovka in the Kharkov region. Ukrainian forces lost up to 45 troops, two pickup trucks, and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, the ministry said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, units from the eastern group of forces interacting with aircraft hit units of the 58th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade near Urozhainoye in the Donetsk People's Republic. The enemy lost over 100 troops, two trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and two D-30 howitzers," the ministry said.
In the Zaporozhye sector, units of the Russian group of forces supported by aircraft and artillery hit concentrations of troops and hardware of the 118th Mechanized Brigade, the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade and the 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Rabotino, Nesteryanka and Verbovoye in the Zaporozhye region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 55 troops killed or wounded, three armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks and a D-30 howitzer, it said.
Units of the 38th Marine Brigade were hit in the Kherson sector, it said. The enemy lost up to 35 troops, a tank, two trucks, an M777 artillery system, and two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, the ministry said.
