Allocation of additional funds as assistance to Ukraine not in Europe's interests - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has described the EU decision to allocate another 50 billion euros in financial assistance to the Ukrainian government as an action not in Europe's interests.

"Today's domestic and foreign EU policies demonstrate an absolute detachment of the European institutions from the European population's true interests," Zakharova said in an answer to a question from media about decisions adopted at the latest EU summit.

"It is generally understood, where these funds will go, given the unprecedented systemic corruption that has turned Ukraine into Europe's black hole," she said. "As a matter of fact, we will deal with banal theft, which completely fits the paradigm of 'a world order based on rules,' which is being forced by the West on the global community," she said.

"The forced placement of the European economy on a war footing, which the EU believes is supposed to help it overcome a financial crisis, is a potential security risk for the entire world," Zakharova said.
