Allocation of 50 bln euros to Kiev will cause greater problems for EU - State Duma speaker

MOSCOW. Feb 5 (Interfax) - The European Union's decision to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine will set EU political processes in motion, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.

"The leadership of the European Union and its member states has made irresponsible decisions and acted contrary to national interests," Volodin said on Telegram on Saturday.

By deciding to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine, the EU leaders "doom their countries to ever greater problems," he said.

"This is a trigger to set political processes in motion in the European Union," Volodin said.

"The money allocated from the EU budget will be spent on fueling the war instead of helping EU citizens and solving domestic problems," he said.

It was agreed at an EU summit in Brussels on Thursday to allocate up to 50 billion euros to Ukraine as macro-financial assistance in 2024-2027.
