Russia's Federation Council urges Western parliaments to end arms supplies to Kiev

MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Russia's Federation Council has stated that Western countries supplying Kiev with weapons are directly responsible for the deaths of Russian civilians and has urged them to put an end to such supplies.

A statement made by the Federation Council on Wednesday urges the parliaments of the UK, the U.S., Germany, France, the Czech Republic, and other NATO and EU member states "to realize the direct responsibility of their countries for civilian casualties resulting from Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure and to take immediate steps to end the supply of weapons, ammunition and military hardware to the criminal Kiev regime."

Western weapons, ammunition and military hardware are used "to kill civilians and to destroy the Russian Federation's civilian infrastructure," the statement said.

It gave the example of strikes on Belgorod on December 30, 2023, and Donetsk on January 21, 2024.

"Ukrainian armed formations fired multiple rocket launchers at public areas, killing over 50 people and injuring more than 130," the statement said.

"Ukrainian armed formations struck the residential areas and civilian infrastructure of Lisichansk on February 3, 2024. The attack killed 28 of the city's residents, including a child," it said.

Weapons supplied by the West to Kiev include "U.S. HIMARS high mobility artillery rocket systems, British-French Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles and depleted uranium projectiles, German AT2 and French HPD F2 mines that endanger the population, Czech Vampire rockets, and numerous other types of Western-made military hardware," the statement said.
