Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers perform scheduled flight over neutral waters of Bering, Chukchi Seas

MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Two Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers have performed a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Bering and Chukchi Seas, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"The flight lasted for around nine hours," the ministry said.

Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter jets of the Russian Aerospace Forces escorted the bombers, it said.

"The flight was performed in strict compliance with international airspace regulations," the ministry quoted Long-Range Aviation Commander Sergei Kobylash as saying.

"Long-range aviation pilots regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean, the North Atlantic, the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Pacific," Kobylash said.
