MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - A possible war between NATO and Russia that Russia does not need but which the alliance's leaders have been talking about will not resemble the special military operation, and if necessary Russia's response would be asymmetrical, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.
"Leaders from NATO countries have been banging on about the need to be ready for a war with Russia," Medvedev wrote on Telegram. "And even though Russia has said repeatedly that it has no plans for a conflict with NATO and EU countries, extremely dangerous chatter on this account continues," Medvedev said.
"If, God forbid, such a war happens, it won't follow the scenario of the special military operation. It won't be fought in trenches with the use of artillery, armored vehicles, drones, or electronic warfare systems," he said.
"NATO is a huge military bloc, the population of the alliance's countries is nearly one billion people, and their aggregate military budget could reach $1.5 trillion," he said.
"Therefore, considering that our military capabilities are incomparable, we will simply have no choice. Our response will be asymmetrical. We will use ballistic and cruise missiles with special warheads to protect our country's territorial integrity. This is based on our doctrinal military documents, and everyone is perfectly aware of this. And this would be the proverbial apocalypse. The end of everything," Medvedev said.
