Five injured in Ukrainian attack on Rzhevka village in Russia's Belgorod region - governor

VORONEZH. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Governor of Russia's Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov has reported casualties resulting from a Ukrainian attack on the Shebekino district.

"The village of Rzhevka in the Shebekino urban district has come under attack from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to preliminary information, there were five casualties, including one in a grave condition. An ambulance is taking one man with traumatic amputation of the upper and lower extremities to the Shebekino Central District Hospital. Another four casualties, two men and two women, have sustained shrapnel wounds to their lower extremities," Gladkov said on Telegram on Thursday.

The injured are on their way to Belgorod City Hospital No. 2, he said.

Shell fragments hit two private homes. Windows were shattered, and the houses' exteriors, roofs and fences as well as a car were scarred, Gladkov said.

Information about the damage is being updated. Emergency and operational services are working at the scene.

Earlier, the governor reported one casualty from a Ukrainian attack on Novaya Tavolzhanka.

"A kamikaze drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a bus transporting civilians in the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka. There was one casualty from the explosion, a man with shrapnel injuries to his leg. He is on his way to a hospital," Gladkov said on Telegram on Thursday.

The border territories of the Belgorod region have come under attacks from Ukraine since February 24, 2022. Civilian casualties have been reported. The region has declared a yellow (high) level of terrorist alert and a state of emergency in 15 border settlements.
