Russian minesweepers search for Ukrainian mines on commercial shipping lines in Black Sea

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Russian minesweepers have searched for Ukrainian mines on some of the intensive commercial navigation lines in the Black Sea, Russia's Black Sea Fleet said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Amid a real mine danger caused by Ukraine's moves to lay mines in certain coastal and water areas, Black Sea Fleet minesweeping forces explored the Kerch-Yenikale Canal and intensive navigation routes in the Black Sea for mines," it said.

During the reconnaissance action, minesweepers acting as part of a minesweeping unit practiced various methods of breaching and neutralizing minefields in the daytime and at night, it said.
