MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Russian forces have improved their situation in the Krasny Liman and southern Donetsk sectors while taking more favorable positions in the Donetsk sector, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, units from the central group of forces improved their situation along the front line. Supported by artillery and aviation, they repelled two attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 63rd Mechanized Brigade near Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic and Torskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this sector included up to 320 soldiers, two tanks, five infantry fighting vehicles, 10 armored combat vehicles, 22 automobiles, one Strela-10 air defense missile system, and one D-30 howitzer, it said.
"In the Donetsk sector, units from the southern group of forces took more advantageous positions and repelled six attacks by Ukrainian units, and inflicted fire damage on the personnel and hardware of the Ukrainian 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Assault Brigades, the 17th Tank Brigade, and the 22nd, 28th, 24th, 42nd, and 93rd Mechanized Brigades near Bogdanovka, Krasnoye, Kleshcheyevka, Kurdyumovka, and Andreyevka in the DPR," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this sector included up to 360 troops, six tanks, five infantry fighting vehicles, 20 automobiles, one Strela-10 air defense system, three U.S.-made M777 artillery systems, one British-made FH70 howitzer, two Msta-B howitzers, two D-30 artillery guns, one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, two drone control centers, and four ammunition depots, it said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, units from the eastern group of forces improved their tactical positions and inflicted fire damage on Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel and hardware near Vodyanoye in the DPR and Priyutnoye in the Zaporozhye region," it said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this sector included up to 160 troops, one tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, two personnel carriers, two Strela-10 air defense missile systems, three automobiles, three British-made FH70 howitzers, and one Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system.
"In the Kupyansk sector, units from the western group of forces inflicted damage on enemy personnel and equipment near Tabayevka and Petropavlovka in the Kharkov region and repelled three attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian 30th Mechanized Brigade and 25th Air Assault Brigade near Sinkovka in the Kharkov region and Terny in the DPR," it said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this sector included up to 130 troops, one tank, three armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, one D-30 howitzer, one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and one Grad multiple-launch rocket system vehicle, it said.
"In the Kherson sector, damage was inflicted on units of the Ukrainian 28th Mechanized Brigade, 45th Artillery Brigade and 121st Territorial Defense Brigade near Rabotino, Nesteryanka, and Stepovoye in the Zaporozhye region, Ilyinka in the Dnepropetrovsk region and Tyaginka in the Kherson region," it said.
In this sector, the Ukrainian army lost up to 40 troops, one tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, four automobiles, one D-20 artillery gun, and three Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, the Defense Ministry said.
